Sustainability: Lets talk about Jacquemus A/W 2020

fashion

Jacquemus, the designer who everyone loves just dropped a collection made primarily of Linen fabrics. The good thing about Linen, it is not only a stylish fabric, who doesn’t love a good linen dress or trouser in the summer, is that if they are not dyed they are 100% biodegradable. Not only has Jacquemus used natural Linens and wools, when they have been dyed, they have been dyed naturally with vegetable dyes. In contrast to last seasons vivid bright pinks and yellow, this collections palette is a lot more natural and earthy. Colours ranged from Pale Olives, pale purples, baby blues and the natural familiar colour linen typically comes in. This is important because Fashion is the 2nd biggest pollutant and contributor of waste in turn contributing to global warming. This contribution is calculated to a total of 4% to the worlds waste. This may not seem a lot but that is a staggering 92 tonnes of non degradable, meaning synthetics like polyester and heavily toxicated from unnatural dyes.

Jacquemus, made more popular for his ‘Le Chiquito’ mini bags, the French Designer started his career at the age of 19. Though some may argue much younger, as his first real experience with creating was at the tender age of 7. Pulling inspiration from the popular Japanese brand Commes De Garcon, Jacquemus designs focus on minimalist constructions with an asymmetrical edgy twist, creating collections reminiscent of a fun more refined 90s vibe that has brought him much success. His popularity has increased with the help of instagram fashion influencers where he runs his own page. His Autumn Winter 2020 collection was set at a ‘humongous building at La Defense, at the edge of Paris, and took half the city with him’ The sight was quite surreal with the models walking diagonally through the gigantic illuminous white square, With the industries most affluent models blessing the runway. One thing I love about Jacquemus is his inclusivity of models of all ethnicities, it is definitely not a spot the black scenario at this show.

Simon Porte Jacqumeus showed sexy figure fitting linen spaghetti strap dresses teamed with 90s style bandanas and off the shoulder knits that I, for one, being a 90s baby am here for. It definitely reminded me of the earlier episodes of SATC. See references below.

Overall I think The show was fun to watch and incorporated elements of nostalgia, if minimalism and or sustainabliltiy then this collection may be worth your while. It does remind me of Kanye Wests collection as the colour palette is similar however expected when working with linens. Let me know What you think of the set and collection and his use of models in the comment section below.

The Ordinary Review

skin care, Skin Care Saturday’s

Hello readers, I hope the year has been teating you well, I’m back with a quick review of the brand that’s brought a great amount of hype within the last year. The ordinary ‘clinical formulations wh integrity’a brand brought to you by Deciem, stated as being an umbrella of brands focused on advanced funational beauty.

I purchased a few different products and have been using them for a good few months now to see how they fair on my sensitive, dry skin. Like many peeople intersted in skin care at a good price and witgood ingredients I ‘d seen quite a few reviews on youtube so was looking forward to trying this brand. Some products were, to be frank, reeking havoc on said dry sensitive skin however some I would definitely repurchased. So first I’ll just list the products that I bought. My first impressions were the packaging is so very chemistry like which I loved, each product comes with a dropper for easy application.

  1. Squalene cleanser – I absolutely love this product. The consistency is like a gel, however once warmed between your palms changes to an oil. Squalene is a plant derivative that mimics an oil the skin naturally makes to lock in moisture. This product gently melts any make up or dirt on the skin with ease and without stripping the skin. Used in the morning and before bed.
  2. Glycolic Acid 7% toning solution – Glycolic acid has become increasing popular as more women are interested in the ingredients of there skin care. It works as a gentle exfoliater in the form of a toner, useto brighten and refine skin texture. I found this product to be great for removing any excess oil or dirt that may left on the skin after cleansing. My skin felt and looked really clean after the first application. It lasts a very long time. Initially I was worried this woud dry the skin out but with its added tasmanian pepper berry, ginsng and aloe vera it balances the skin well.
  3. The buffet – this product claims to be a multi technology peptide serum whch targets multiple signs of ageing at once. It combines a high number of highly concentrated peptides (Amino acids) with the infamous Hyaluronic acids for an all in one anti aging treatment. It is a serum consistency which visibly targets surfe hydration, fine lines and textural irregularities. I really do like the serum formulas the the ordinary have. This is another great product that I would repurchase.
  4. Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG- is a lighly textured serum with a high concentrated caffeine and EGCG confiction delivering a potent blend of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories to the eye area, this serum works hard to brighten dark circles and reduce the appearance of dark circles. I feel like eye gels, creams in general are just another step the a skin care routine and sometimes doubt the effectiveness of using one, this being said, this product works well in cooling down and moisturising the delicate eye area. It’s ok.
  5. ‘B’ oil – I chose this oil because it thee most blends of oil so figured it would be the most value for money however I was sadly mistaken. The oil contains a blend of squalene, crambe Abyssinica seed oil (comparale to jojoba oil) bisabolo, a natural alcohol that is a primary conconstituent of the essential oil from German chamomile ,rosemary leaf extract,, tomato fruit extract, argan oil, rosehip oil, marula oil and some othr oils too long to list. However on next purchase I may go with just one concentrated oil instead of a whole bunch of oils mixed together
  6. Niacinamide 10%+ zinc 1%- is a serum consistency designed to reduc appearance of skin blemishes, pores, and congestion by regulating sebum production. Niacinimide is great for improving skn health,, boosting skin immunity andd improving moisture retention by strengthening the epidermal barrr whilst zinc supports skin strucurea by healing damaged skin a encouraging the production of collen and elastin. I have to say this ia decent product, I really enjoyed ccosistency on the skin as the serum absorbs quite well. Generally a good product.
  7. Aha 30% bha 2% peeling solution – this peeling solution is incredibly popular with it’s almost blood like resemblance caused by the berry extract. At first I thought this produc was abit of a gimmick but no half way through the product ivenoticed it really helps to lift the dead layer of skin away revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. I woold definitely repurchase.
  8. Natural moisturizing factors + HA- thas moisturiser was disappointing. On first application this product felt moisturising, a little goes a long way. However it’s a little dulling, afteas few times using this I noticed astarted getting little spots caused by skin drying and managed to whitle it down to a mixture of this cream and possibly the b oil. Works geat as a hand moisturiser.
  9. Agireline solution 10%- is a water baes serum that claims to prevent mmuscle movement that leads to wrinkle formation. This is like botox in a bottle, you can literally see the difference in lines on the forhead which is great. I would keep this as a staple.

After watching all thee youtube video reviews I do feel somwhat disappointed that may results were not a great as some other peoples, however there are quite a few products I am still too try and may find more lluck with. Out of the products I have tried there are some great ones and would highly recommend the squalene cleanser as my overall favourite followed by the airgglne solution, and the niacinimide with EGCG
